The Kookie Kutter Bakery was established in 1989 and purchased by its current ownership in March, 1992. At this time the Bakery specialized baking without premixes and catering specialty products having only three full-time staff. Through experimentation with local wholesales, a series of equipment purchases, and hiring additional staff the Bakery launched its first “mass market” product Gingersnaps in 1998. In 1999 the Bakery secured Gingersnap contracts with local Superstores and Sobeys in the Moncton and Amherst areas. By 2001 all of Atlantic Canada was being supplied with the Bakery’s trademark cookie. In order to further increase production capacity, the Bakery was forced to relocate to its current location, offering four times the workspace than its previous 650 ft2 building. In 2002, the business was incorporated under the name Kookie Kutter Bakery Ltd. and received multiple Small Business of the Year awards for the Sackville and southeastern New Brunswick region. In 2005 the Kookie Kutter ranked 2nd in the AC Nielsen Report in Bakeries in Atlantic Canada.
Today, the Bakery currently has three “mass market” products; Gingersnaps, Vanilla Flax Snax, and a NEW Cinnamon & Honey Snaps, which are sold throughout Atlantic Canada and Ontario at various grocery chains including Atlantic Superstore, Costco, Sobeys and Food Basics. With 22 employees the Bakery is looking to expand its facility, hire new staff, and purchase new equipment to increase production capacity in planning for expected growth in the immediate future.
